Within the pre-school room we focus on preparing children to transition to school. We have a free flow environment and encourage children to make choices independently. Each child is allocated a key person who is responsible for supporting the individual needs, abilities and interests of every child. Their key person supports and monitors the childs development through weekly planning and regular activities.
The rooms leads out onto our biggest outdoor area where children are given opportunities to explore, investigate and take risks. There is a variety of activities available for children to access such as riding bikes, obstacle courses and climbing frames. The children also have access to a large nature area where they explore and we develop the children's understanding of the world through planting and growing vegetables. These activities contribute towards supporting children's life skills for the future.
We offer a free flow environment, indoors and outdoors, for children to access a variety of adult and child initiated activities. We encourage children to engage in group times such as literacy, maths and singing. These session prepare children for school life.
As our nursery follows the guidance of the Nottingham City ECAT (more info please see the links page) we incorporate a 'sign of the week', 'book of the week' and 'maths word of the week' into our daily routine. We encourage parent/carers to be actively involved in their child's learning and inform you weekly on what our focus will be.
